Interação e proficiência linguística:O desempenho de cadetes do 1º ano da AMAN em Língua Inglesa em 2020 Resende

Abstract

O inglês alcançou nos últimos anos o status de língua internacional. Atento a isso, o Exército Brasileiro (EB) vem adotando ações que visam a capacitar e aprimorar seus quadros para desempenhar funções mediadas pela língua inglesa. Na Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras (AMAN), os cadetes estudam inglês ao longo dos quatro anos de curso e realizam exames para obtenção de um índice de proficiência linguística. Embora todos eles sejam submetidos ao mesmo processo ensino-aprendizagem, alguns cadetes não atingem níveis de proficiência mais elevados. Este trabalho tem por objetivo geral verificar a relação entre interações prévias mediadas pela língua inglesa e a obtenção de níveis mais elevados de proficiência linguística na AMAN. Para isso, buscou-se identificar as interações dos cadetes com a língua inglesa antes do ingresso no EB e averiguar em que medida elas afetam o desempenho dos discentes na disciplina Língua Inglesa II. Definimos como corpus de pesquisa cadetes de turmas básicas e avançadas de inglês que cursaram o 1º ano da AMAN em 2020. Fundamentamos este trabalho na perspectiva teórica do Sociointeracionismo de Vygotsky. Pudemos concluir que há uma relação clara entre as situações de interação mediadas pela língua inglesa previamente vividas pelos cadetes e a obtenção de níveis de proficiência linguística mais elevados. _____________________________________________________________________________ English has achieved international language status in recent years. Aware of this, the Brazilian Army has been adopting actions that aim to train and improve its staff to perform functions mediated by the English language. In the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN), cadets study English throughout the four-year course and take exams to obtain a language proficiency index. Although all of them are submitted to the same teaching-learning process, some cadets do not reach higher levels of proficiency. This work has the general objective of verifying the relationship between previous interactions mediated by the English language and the achievement of higher levels of linguistic proficiency in AMAN. To this end, we sought to identify the interactions of the cadets with the English language before entering the Brazilian Army and to find out to what extent they affect the performance of students in the discipline English Language II. We defined as research corpus cadets from basic and advanced classes of English who attended the 1st year of AMAN in 2020. We based this work on the theoretical perspective of Vygotsky's Sociointeractionism. We were able to conclude that there is a clear relationship between the interaction situations mediated by the English language previously experienced by the cadets and the attainment of higher levels of linguistic proficiency.
